Thrive
Thrive at Longford Park
At Longford Park Primary School we want all the children in our community to flourish. Thrive offers a trauma-informed, whole school approach to improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.
The priority is to maximise every child's learning experience and help them to;
-
feel happy and secure
-
make and enjoy friendships
-
relate well to others
-
be ready to learn
The use of the Thrive approach allows us to identify areas of need and help remove barriers to learning through assessment and purposefully planned activities.
Positive relationships are at the heart of Thrive. We use these relationships, together with play and creative activities, to support children to make progress in specific areas of development.
Thrive sessions support children to:
-
Increase their sense of security and trust
-
Learn to think before behaving in a certain way
-
Feel good about themselves and know that they matter
-
Increase their emotional well-being.
-
Improve their capacity to be creative and curious
-
Increase their self-esteem and confidence to learn
-
Learn to recognise and regulate their emotions
The Thrive programme has been proven to improve attendance, attainment and behaviour. Longford Park currently has two trained Thrive practitioners who work with children throughout the school. Sessions either occur on a 1:1 basis or in small groups and progress is shared with class teachers to allow for consistency throughout school.
Longford Park’s Thrive practitioners are Mrs Marie Houston and Mrs Lora Barclay. If you have any questions about Thrive, please speak to your child’s class teacher or email the Inclusion team at inclusionteam@longfordparkschool.org
