Longford Loves Reading - Children's Book Reviews
You will no doubt come across the word ‘Phonics’ as soon as your child starts school, if not before. Phonics is a method of learning to read words that is taught right from the start of Reception/Nursery - for more information about this, please visit our /762/phonics-early-reading page.
Once children have learnt to mechanics of reading, we work hard to to instil a love of reading for everyone.
Research specifically shows that the benefits of reading are more likely to be felt when reading takes place through free choice. The outcomes of reading will occur more often and more strongly if reading is enjoyable in the first instance. This is why developing a love of reading from the earliest moments is so important.
Reading should be an everyday part of our lives, something we choose to do at all ages. At Longford Park we have a culture of reading for enjoyment that will develop a lifelong love of reading to benefit children in so many ways. We recognise that reading for pleasure encourages children to succeed both academically and socially.
At Longford Park, we are all passionate about making a difference and we actively promote this love of reading. We aim to empower children to explore the multitude of worlds beyond their own world.
As part of this, our children are encouraged to share their passion for the books they read by recording video book reviews.- here are a selection of the latest reviews:
