Unveiling 'The Garden of Imagination'
What a wonderful afternoon we had celebrating the official opening of the Garden of Imagination today. The impressive aerial sculpture - suspended from the 29 ft high ceiling of our school hall - was inspired by the beauty and vibrancy of the natural world, in particular flowers, leaves and hummingbirds, creating a bright kaleidoscope of colours. The hummingbird is the emblem of GLF Trust - their vibrancy of colour represents energy and diversity while their ability to migrate very long distances symbolises the persistence that leads to success in life.
Over 1000 hand-drawn laser cut shapes were used in the display, each individually and beautifully hand painted by the children of Longford Park. Every child in our school, including the youngest children in our Nursery, were included in the artwork.
This project was the creative vision of the artist Emma Cox and was made possible with generous funding from Cotswolds Arts Through Schools.
At today’s celebratory unveiling event, the children of the school really showcased their prowess in the arts as we were treated to a rousing song by the school choir; some beautiful storytelling through dance; an extremely accomplished piano recital and as we watched two children giving online book reviews.
Julian Drinkall, the CEO of GLF Trust, unveiled the plaque and we were thrilled to be able to thank the various donors and supporters who enabled us to be part of such a brilliant project. Mr Sean Woodcock MP spoke about the work he does to support our local community and he was clearly very impressed by the creativity and talents shown by all our children today.
Thank you to everyone who was part of this wonderful project – do come and visit the school to see the impressive installation for yourselves!
